The Institute of Democratic Governance (IDEG) has organized a one day training programme for 22 selected participants from the Eastern Region to embark on a social mobilization, to ensure credible, free and peaceful elections in the country. Speaking at the opening of the training programme on Thursday in Koforidua, Ms Freda Opata, a member of the IDEG, said the trainees would be expected to assist communities to be interested in helping clean the bloated voters register, when it is opened for exhibition between 5th to 11th October. She explained that, minors, who registered during the limited registration exercise and people who had engaged in double registration, need to be encouraged to voluntarily go to the centres to have their names removed from the register, so that the country could have a credible register for the elections.
