Let December elections be without conflicts – Asantehemaa

Nana Afua Serwaa Kobi Ampem, Asantehemaa, has said it was important that political parties embarked on campaigns in a peaceful manner ahead of the December elections.      This, she said, was necessary if the nation was to consolidate her infant democracy and the peace the country was enjoying.      Nana Kobi Ampem made the call when Mrs Yvonne Nduom, wife of Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom, flag-bearer of the Convention People's Party (CPP), paid a courtesy call on her at the Manhyia Palace at the weekend as part of her campaign tour of the Ashanti Region.      The Asantehemaa appealed to political activists, supporters and leaders to strive to conduct their campaigns devoid of provocative statements which had the tendency to throw the country into turmoil.      She commended Mrs Nduom for supporting her husband to achieve his political objectives and said it was time that women gathered momentum and fought for the promotion of their rights.      Mrs Ndoum commended the Asantehemaa for her sterling leadership qualities and called on other queens to emulate this shinning example to improve the welfare of their people.
