Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo, wife of Nana Akufo-Addo, Flag-bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called on women to rise up and be in the forefront of the crusade for a peaceful Ghana. She said in their own interest and that of their children, they should not relent in their efforts to ensure that nothing disturbed the peace of the country. Speaking at Asamankese as part of a tour of the Eastern Region, Mrs Akufo-Addo said the nation needed peace now more than at any time in her history. She explained that with the up-coming General Elections and given what had happened in some African countries, Ghanaians should "have peace on their lips and preach it". She said Ghana had made great strides in its development and appealed to voters to retain the NPP in power to continue its good works. Mrs Akuffo-Addo thanked the people of Asamankese and the entire Lower West Akyem Constituency for the solid and massive support it had given the NPP and expressed the hoped that they would again vote overwhelmingly for the party in December. Mr Kwabena Sintim-Aboagye, West Akyem Municipal Chief Executive, who welcomed Mrs Akufo-Addo, pledged the continued support of the people of the area for the NPP. GNA |
