Northern Region DPP supports NDC in run-off

The Northern Region branch of the Democratic People's Party (DPP), has declared its support for Professor John Evans Atta Mills, Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), in the presidential run-off on December 28.
The executive had arrived at the decision based on the premise of truth, humility, integrity and trustworthiness exhibited by Professor Mills in his career as a scholar and a politician.
These were contained in a statement signed by Mr. Adam Lamsah, the Regional Chairman of the DPP and issued in Tamale on Friday.
It said the ideology and attributes of Professor Mills were very much like those of the DPP and its Presidential Candidate, Mr. Thomas Nuako Ward-Brew, hence the decision to back the NDC to victory in December 28.
The statement said "Ghanaians are suffering under the government of the New Patriotic Party but the same party says we are moving forward".
It said the Northern Region branch of DPP could not be part of the NPP moving forward slogan because the people were suffering.
The statement said Ghanaians were yearning for change and stressed the need for all to join hands with the NDC for that change to materialize.
It said "It is our hope and conviction that like-minded people of Ghana would throw their support behind Prof. Mills and the NDC to deliver Ghanaians from the shackles of the NPP. Another term for the NPP will spell doom for the already suffering Ghanaians".
The statement said Prof. Mills was a God-sent leader for Ghana at this time and the DPP certainly wanted to be part of him.
