Education Campaign Coalition greets Mills

The Ghana National Education Campaign Coalition (GNECC) on Thursday welcomed President John Evans Atta Mills into office with the hope that he and his victorious National Democratic Congress (NDC) would help to transform the country."It is our earnest expectation that Prof. Mills and the NDC will work assiduously for the transformation of the country's development, particularly the promotion of sound educational policies and programmes as access to quality education is the bedrock to sound socio-economic transformation," the statement signed by Mr Bright Appiah, Chairman of the Executive Council, said.
GNECC said as an umbrella body for all civil society organisations working to promote education in Ghana, it would continue to effectively play its watchdog and complimentary role in ensuring the provision of quality education at all levels.
It urged the incoming government to be committed to the constitutional obligation of providing quality education for all Ghanaians.
It should also make use of the relevant alternative education policy suggestions outlined in the manifestoes of the various political parties.
