Omanhene calls for education for party supporters

Oseadeeyo Akumfi–Ameyaw IV, Omanhene of Techiman Traditional Area, has underscored the need for political parties to educate their supporters and sympathisers not to regard opponents as enemies.
He said politics and democracy was about "the choice of ideas and set of beliefs, all aimed at pursuing the development of the country".
Oseadeeyo Akumfi-Ameyaw said this at a meeting with NDC and NPP supporters at the Ohene Ameyaw Palace at Techiman.
The meeting, convened by Techiman Traditional Council, was aimed at sustaining the peace in Techiman Municipality after the general election.
The Omanhene stressed that democracy required the accommodation of different ideas and urged the parties to work towards the entrenchment of democracy in the area and Ghana at large.
He advised party sympathisers not to use politics to settle personal scores but to forge ahead in unity towards the development of the area.
Mr. Adams Mohammed, assistant secretary, who led the representatives of the NPP, promised to rally behind the new government to continue with the good works of the NPP government.
He said the party's supporters had been educated to remain calm even in the face of provocation from opposing parties.
